7/27 As Sick as a Cat

I woke up with a heavy head and a sore throat.

I tried to cough but it felt empty in my lungs. Man, I had been sick, and heavily.

The strong air conditioning should be the main cause behind all these terrible syndromes, I felt so in the limbs and was exhausted trying to flex my fingers.

Yes, I had stayed up until pretty late last night trying to arrange my schedules in Vietnam, the bus rides, accommodations and other trivial matters, but this shouldn't be enough to catch me a cold, should it?

Anyway, I tried my best to get out of the bed, brushed my teeth and sprayed some honey medicine into my aching throat, felt better!

I trod with my heavy feet into the restaurant downstairs, which I should be enjoying the buffet in courtesy of the hotel.

It was about 8:30, but no others were to be seen except for the patient, myself.

I had some rough cabbages, fried rice, noodles, ham and a bunch of hard-as-rock muffins. They weren't the best meal, but was just so much better than instant noodles and simply cookies for breakfast.

While I was trying to figure out what's wrong with the toaster, for my toast was still icy cold after a few minutes' bake, a brown skinned girl appeared by my side and asked whether I needed any help or not. I happily accepted her offer, and found myself chatting with her pleasantly in the next second, for we were the only two diners here.

She sat at my table and shared our stay, experiences here in Phnom Penh.

Her name was Maria, and just arrived from Nha Trang, where I would also be staying in Vietnam. I tried asking her for some tips while she backpacked in Vietnam, but I sounded all croaky and hoarse from the sore throat.

It was a really pleasant morning, solid food, a female friend, just when I retired to my bedroom, I found that it was under room services and there were people cleaning inside.

I had never encountered this kind of situation before, to have come back to your room and see the cleaners inside doing their job. It was pretty awkward, so I just sat on the chair quietly, trying not to get in their way.

Sleep, and more sleep.

Trying my best to recover and prepare myself for a fresh and hard day tomorrow.

Felt better in the mid of the night while going for a piss to the bathroom.
