7/28 The City of Chaos

I guessed, what the people of Phnom Penh love the most, is probably honking.

They didn't care about the traffic, and how the other felt about the noise, they just honked whenever their hands felt itchy.

I was trying my best to survive this city, with few traffic lights, many intersection roads and lots of vehicles that only cared about themselves.

I made my way toward the Capitol Bus Office which was located an hour away, for I would be going to Ho Chih Min city the first thing tomorrow, and I was worried about the bus tickets being sold out.

Not one more day in this city, not one!

Fortunately, most of the annoying tuk tuk drivers had decided to leave me alone, it might have been my darkened skin and casual wearing, it's a good thing that I was blending in with the locals.

It's extremely hot even with the shoes on, and roads were dusty with dirt filling up the air, you suck in lots of sandy particles with one small breath.

However, I still walked with patience, and with determination, I made my way to the museum and saw the grand palace, it was all gold and shiny, with the sunlight glaring through the roof and surfaces, my eyes hurt from the reflection.

There was this grand canal just next to the palace, and many vendors were selling stuff, sitting by their booths just next to the water. I bought a coke and sat by the riverside, watching the big junky boats going around in the brownish water. Just by my side, a bunch of kids were swimming in the dirty water; they would climb up to an iron rod that extended just above the water surface and leaped into the canal! It seemed really dangerous, for one wrong step could send the kids tumbling to the rocky hard surface above the water.

I watched them for a while and left.

While I tour around the city, trying to avoid the chaos and stuck to myself, I noticed that the Cambodians really loved the five-headed serpent, which might be their mascot. I had also seen it in the old temples of Angkor Wat.

One last piece of small advice for travelers who are planning to come to Cambodia, don't come to Pnomh Penh unless you have lots of free time to spare, just go straightly to Siem Reap, for all the goodies were located there in the small town.
