7/11 In the Rain

The sound of rain drops falling from the sky sunk my heart to the deepest early in the morning. It's really annoying to be hanging around with the camera in one hand and the umbrella in another, not even to mention the chance of wetting the lens. If I were in Taiwan, today would have been a perfect day to stay inside the house, have a hot chocolate and sit back watching TV, however, this wasn't how I am supposed to end my last day in Kuala Lumpur, so I put up my umbrella and headed out.

The disadvantages of walking with the flip flops is that, dirt and mud are always flipped back from my soles to my calves, due to some physic rules... and that made me legs dirty and was pretty annoying throughout the whole day. My destination of the day would be the famous Central Market, so I lowered my head and kept focused on my target trying to ignore the bad weather. I was smooth as a sardine even with the umbrella in the crowd. What's worth mentioning is that, it's strange here in KL about the people and their attitude toward the rain. Nobody runs from it! Even when they don't have an umbrella over their head and the water had sunk their suits and shirts totally wet. They still had those smiles on their faces and continued in a steady face, that was really an amazement.

I thought about following their lead and throw away my umbrella, and it just occurred to me that it would have been moronic not to use one and just get yourself wet and cold. So I let go of the idea.

The Central Market was a prosperous place with many handcrafts and souvenirs on sold, some from India, Thailand or China. However, I'm just a poor backpacker with small budget, so it's basically just window shopping. I walked around the central of Kuala Lumpur for the rest of the day, saying silent goodbyes to the city, I even went to Pudu Sentral to check about the ticket booth, bus stations I will be using tomorrow, to make sure there won't be any panic the next day.

As for dinner and lunch, I covered them with a bag of shrimp cookies and a bottle of juice, since I only had 100 USD worth of RMs, and there was still a Penang to go next, I guessed I would have to live the rest of the trip in Malaysia with a sealed purse.

Of course I could always exchange for more of the RMs if necessary, so don't worry about me XD
