7/22 Messy Khaosan

Anyone who has been here in Bangkok, especially the backpackers and the foreigners, must have heard of the famous Khaosan Road. Everything here, the food the drinks the hostel and the souvenirs are crazy cheap. Booking tours and buying train tickets are way less expensive than other places, that's why here's been called the "backpackers' paradise". Anyhow, you win some, you lose some; Khaosan is full of all kinds of slaughtering actions, rude languages and expert cons, many who had been there came back sharing their experiences and said it was indeed a war zone.

Though Khaosan Road was full of such bad rumors, I still decided to venture there and check it out myself, for I had only myself to look out for and as long as I sealed my wallet shut, I'm pretty much safe.

Experiences tourists would suggest a route of taking the BTS and transferring to the Road through taxi or tuk tuk, since I was no ordinary man, I decided to walk for the whole distance, exercising and taking some photos along the way. The sun was lighting the sky high up my head, and I was surrounded by stupid traffic jam that didn't give a damn about the safety of pedestrians, you just had to look out for yourself in Bangkok.

I strolled along the streets and tried my best to look out for all kinds of dashing vehicles, until I came across with a road that was so much different from the others: the foreigners that were roaming the road tripled all of a sudden, and the whole region was full of yelling and shouting, people bargaining with one another until their face went red. I looked up and saw my destination at last: Khaosan!

Roaring music bammed into my ears and the whole street was crowded by people and booths. People were waving at one another looking enthusiastic and extra friendly, I even caught glimpses on guys wearing only a piece of underwear but still going on all casual. I was pretty amazed by the sudden change of atmosphere, and that's when I almost bumped into an old man selling scorpions in front of me, he was holding a stick of grilled ones with a tank of lively ones just by the side, yuck!

I hadn't planned to purchase anything in the beginning until I caught sight of a number 9 sportswear of Torres the professional soccer player from Spain! I bargained with the vendor for a while and finally he gave in to 450B a piece, I placed the shirt happily in the bag feeling all satisfied and glad.

Khaosan Road was crowded, but not very long. If you don't count in the people that were squeezing around like sardines, you could walk from the start to the end in a couple of minutes. I found my way into a big park that had some big events going on after exiting the Road, and had some free drinks, water in the exhibition. It seemed like a job fare by the way XD

By the way, I even came across the grand palace on my way home, it was truly majestic from the view outside. However, the ticket was too much for such a poor backpacker like me, so I just wandered by the walls trying the best I could to take some pictures as a remembrance.
