We had been in Australia for about a whole
month and the days in Sydney were half gone. Plus the rest tour in Brisbane and
Gold Coast, we will be back in Taiwan in no time. Though Australia was an
interesting and amazing place full of special goodies and specimens, I still
missed Taiwan a lot, and all the tasty cooking Mom used to make me.
The budget was only halfway gone though we
had been through three big cities. My original idea circled that, I would have
to borrow from Roxie somehow, otherwise I might not make it back to Taiwan. But
after a quick peep into my wallet just now, I felt safe. Sydney was a money
eating monster, the tickets and lodging fee were all much more expensive than
the ones in Melbourne and Perth. We drank and consumed the last bit of milk and
juice with cornflakes in the morning, I decided to put the rest inside the free
food basket for the others’ usage. How kind of me!
The schedule today would be going to the
famous Fish Market for some seafood and lobsters! As for the plan tomorrow, we
would be heading towards the Madame Mcurry(?) Point, and ordering the ticket to
Brisbane in the meantime.
The location of the Fish Market was very
much different than we thought, it wasn’t sided with the Darling Harbor. If you
were a backpacker and planning to visit there on foot, the route would involve
some crossing beyond highway and entering the country woods, then just keep
walking and eventually you would see the big sign of the famous Fish Market. (It
was really a very very far way from the CBD!)
The fish market was made up of lots of
parking spaces and booths. They sell fresh fishes outside on the open ground,
while the cooked ones inside the buildings. It was crowded with people and
everyone was eating lobsters spitting out every kind of shell. Roxie and I
picked through the restaurants carefully in order to find the best bargain,
finally we settled on the cheapest one and ordered a lobster set. We shared the
meal together, which combined half a lobster filled with mashed potato, some
fries and salad. The lobster was just fine, a big shell with few pieces of
meat, it’s just the atmosphere we loved.
After finishing our meal, we re-entered the
building for another stroll. I thought of going back to Darling Harbor and
coming back for dinner some other time but Roxie complained about the
distance…I bet that you couldn’t guess what we settled on at last: ordering
another seafood platter for an early dinner! You might wonder, didn’t we just
finished a lobster and some fries? Hell yeah!
It took us some time to get back to Darling
Harbor, there was this gigantic playground with a rope made pyramid where
children can climb up to the peek and enjoy the view. I had been on to the top
myself and trust me, it’s quite frightening! I don’t know how the parents are
comfortable with their children playing such dangerous facility!
And there was this imax theatre which was
said to have the biggest screen in the world, just about eight stories high! It
presents both Hollywood movies and documentaries, the later one would be
shorter but all of the movies would be in 3D. How exciting! I persuaded Roxie
into watching the Pacific Rim with me, a story about aliens invading the Earth
and how people fight back with the robots built themselves.
Oh my god the biggest screen in the world!
As for the movie, the story was okay with a
lot of blurry fighting. The plot and theme were pretty much predictable but it
was totally worth the tickets.
By the way, Roxie had been delaying and
refusing to write her diary ever since going to Melbourne and she had been
lagging much in behind, let’s see how she’s going to make it up in the future!
