7/18 OMG it’s the Melbourne Aquarium!

We snagged some of the free breakfast at 8 am sharp but we were too late for the corn flakes leaving us only some toasts and milk. However it was pretty fine since all the food were free haha.

The first of our destination today will be the Melbourne Aquarium that I have been dying to visit and you can count me as an animal lover. The tourist guide said that the aquarium was full of many unique Australian species and anyone who came to Melbourne should take a look there. However the price was 37 AUD per person and it was a little bit over our budget : ( On our way to the home of fishes and other aquatic animals, it got cloudy and rained, lucky for me to have put an umbrella inside my bag and it really saved our day. The cashiering lady was nice enough to let us use our ISIC card as a discount and we got the tickets at 29 per person. We heard that many places only accept the local student cards as discount…

The aquarium weren’t big but it twisted around making the whole exhibition very satisfying. We started out from the penguins, to the seahorses and weird fishes and reptiles. There was this enormous tank that surrounded the visitors and you could see sharks and big fishes, even some divers scrubbing the tank all around you! Roxie said she liked one of the sharks with a comb-like saw the best and she called him Mr. Comb and it was very cute, she just followed him all around. As for me, I found myself in favor of one big and greyish fish with the nickname of Mr. Background, I guess we were both the only to have noticed its existence among all the visitors! We continued south after leaving the aquarium and arrived at the famous Crown Casino, since we don’t gamble and bet, we just took some pictures as in memory of the place then left.

We had McDonald’s for lunch and they didn’t quite fit inside our stomachs. There were two pickles inside a beef burger and the person who put everything together just piled the two pieces together…Roxie and I found this park that came with this really cool name: Batman Park. It had nothing to do with Christian Bale or any bats at all, only some peaceful birds resting on the lawn. I was thirsty at the time so I took a sip from the drinking fountain by the river bank which tasted awful! Roxie kept saying that it must be from the water of the river and it was full of poop of catfish…

After that, some kind of Melbourne Art Centre got in our way so we might as well just pay it a visit. It was full of people in suits rushing and busying with their work. It was just a boring stop after all haha. All of the locations we visited today were nothing worth mentioning except the amazing Aquarium in the morning, but we were not ready to let today go down into the drain so we continued Northward targeting the superbly famous Queen Victoria’s Market. The wind blew so hard that both of our bangs flew up high showing our forehead. People around us were all looking battered and no one was in his or her best condition.

We heard that Queen Victoria’s Market was like a traditional market full of localized booths and people. Both of us were willing to walk for so long and endure the strong wind only to find it closed when we reached the destination. I patted on Roxie’s shoulders and consoled her about coming here some other day. (it only opens from Thursday to Sunday) The day was already pitched dark at 5 and we felt blind wandering on the streets, and even bumping into each other sometimes. We bought some ingredients at an Asian Supermarket Hometown and it did make us feel home. I saw all kinds of snacks and drinks from Taiwan but the price tag was pretty high. Our dinner was decided there: one big cabbage, some tomatoes, beef balls and mushrooms plus noodles. Roxie’s cooking made everything tasted great and both of us received nine beef balls equally and that satisfied my big appetite.

Both of us went for a stroll to Coles, it’s always good to stretch one’s body after consuming much food. We added in a long tube of ham and six onions, 12 eggs and a box of nuggets, it’s time to cook ourselves some breakfast instead of snagging the free ones with the others in the morning. I microwaved some nuggets and fried them in the pan after going back, which was much appreciated by Roxie : )

We found some big fruity jellies in the free food basket and after making sure that they hadn’t expired, we stuffed them in our mouths and tasted great.
