Got up at 7! Well, almost 7. It was already pretty bright outside the window, and I took off toward the direction of city center right after some brushing and washing.
Without the big backpack slowing me down, my pace was fast and I made it to the center in just about half an hour. There weren't many people on the streets, I mean, it's a Monday and where is everyone? However, crowd started to emerge right after I entered the main street toward the Heidelberg Castle. Cars are forbidden in the main street and that made all the windowshopping easier.
At the end of the street, I took the turn right and started climbing the super steep slope toward the Schloss, which is German for castle. Most tour groups chose to take the rail trams but not for me, I am still pretty young and energetic haha.
The admission fee is 6 euros and it's pretty much worth it. The platio on top of the castle gave us a reallh good view of all the cathedrals, bridges below, and the castle was pretty magnificent itself.
I visited the alte brucke bridge right after the Schloss, and there was this really famous monkey statue and copper mice at the entrance of the bride. People were taking a photo with them or touching with hands, for there was a rumor that the ones who had touched the monkey will become rich.
I also went looking for the Heidelberg Kiss Chocolate, but the shop was closed, and won't be open until a few days later, too bad for NY souvenir plan in that shop.
Lunch was at Rewe supermarket again, some really cheap bread, yogurt and a bottle of good nice grapefruit juice. Shopping for food was fun, but carrying them back was a torture, it was a long and painful hike back to Leonardo Hotel which really killed my ankles and soles and knees and basically my whole body.
Rested for a while, I roamed out toward the opposite direction of city center, sometimes you get to see cool stuff when you wander away from the center, and all this tough walking around reallg fulfilled my second day in Heidelberg.
