Dreamworld, baby!
In the luxurious room of Chateau, since
sunlight blazes through our curtains just about every day at 6 in the morning,
that’s the time we usually gets up. We stayed in a little bit later than usual
for Dreamworld wouldn’t be opened until 9.
The bus fare would be 10 AUD to get there,
but convenience was our priority. Our ride travels to three of the theme parks,
Sea World, Warner Bros and finally Dreamworld. We were the last stop, and
everyone was chattering excitedly.
Dreamworld was divided into the land and
water zone: White Water, we picked the bigger land zone for we wouldn’t sure of
getting ourselves wet.
We could see the Tower of Terror standing
tall into the clouds from outside the park, it was about twice the height of
UFO in Taiwan I think. Since we had bought our tickets earlier in the CBD, it’s
a good thing that we didn’t have to squeeze in lines with the others.
It felt really spacious inside and we
weren’t sure of which way to turn. Anyway, we took a few pictures and chose a
way forward! The nearest entrance was to the Buzz Saw which was a roller
coaster that contained a ride that lasts about 30 seconds. But Roxie felt
really scared about it so we decided to begin with the River Ride.
Today’s Wednesday and the whole place was
crowded with people. It took us about 45 minutes to get our feet inside the
round rubber boat and here we began! It’s just like the one Taiwan, splashing a
lot of water into the boat and making everyone wet… anyway it’s a good start
and we all had fun. Dreamworld closes at 5 in the afternoon and we arrived at
about 10, so I guessed we had plenty enough time to play through all the spots.
Buzz Saw also took us about 45-minute of
lining up and people were chatting on the way. The instructor motioned for us
to get into a small red cart and buckled up, then we surfed forward! Up on to a
perpendicular rail and traveled backward then forward and backward, until we
finally slowed down. The whole thing was done in seconds just like the G5.
What’s also worth mentioning was that the cart would hang high up in the air
and stayed motionless for a period of time, which was really innovative for a
roller coaster.
Lining up was tiring and the whole process
took a long time, however short for the real playing time, but totally worth
it. The next 30 minutes of waiting was exchanged for a ride to Gold Mountain,
which was also a raft travelling fast on the water.
There were a zone full of wild life animals,
including kangaroos and koalas, there was also a sleeping wombat which looked
amazingly cute!
I even bought a stuffed wombat for it was so
adorable and there would be no chance to see it again when we got back to
Taiwan. I gotta hand it to the souvenir store for it provided no such thing as
a plastic bag, so I had to carry my wombat all the way around the park…
We got on to some vintage cars that
travelling around the woods and there was this Big Red Car that we lined up for
25 minutes. It had this “fast cars” sign on the outside but by the time we got
into those things, they began to travel in the speed of snails. We went through
several rooms that showed us stupid TV programs, everyone got out of the car
immediately and bolted for the entrance by the time we got to our destination.
Another 45 minutes in exchange of motorcycle
like roller coasters, the whole design was based on the riders racing their
bikes and was really thrilling. The workers also did their complimentary as
judges.
Tower of Terror, the best part of today. It started all from a big mouth into a factory, and the following hour was inside small dark rooms waiting for the show to begin. We were climbing stairs upward and the whole room was filled with the sound of heart thumping. It was finally our turn to have a taste of it.
The whole car flew backward so fast that the
wind pressure pressed us hard on to the back of our seats, the sound in our
ears grew big and you got the feeling that your ear drums might be popped. Then
we went out into the light and high up on the tall tower where we dropped down
back to earth after a few seconds of lingering. What welcomed us was the tunnel
again and we traveled fast in the darkness. Everyone clapped their hands and
yelled in delight by the time we stopped. It was absolutely amazing.
What followed up was a facility was much
like the octopus which carried people high up into the sky and spin. Then there
was the claw, just like in the picture, swinging a full circle of people in
many directions. The pointer on my watch walked fast though all the waiting and
playing, we spent our last good memory on one of the spinning cars and almost
puked. Everything was fine at first until all the cars started spinning really
fast and was almost parallel to the ground, the whole sequence lasted long,
too. I felt really bad in my stomach by the time I got off, Roxie wasn’t
looking too good either.
We took the bus back to Surfers Paradise and
filled our starved tummies with some Asian noodles. I borrowed some DVDs from
the counter back at Chateau which was about an old couple starred by Meryl
Streep and Tommy Lee Jones that went through a series of marriage
constellations.
