8/03 The Rocks

We will be moving out of Maze the first thing in the morning tomorrow, and check in our luggage at the counter right after that. We are taking the XPT tram at 4 in the afternoon, and arriving at Brisbane the next day.

I was just packing up my suitcase and discovered that, my suitcase seems to be a little too full. It was half empty by the time I left Taiwan! Hope that it won’t overweigh tomorrow, 20 KGs per suitcase.

Roxie and I skipped breakfast and headed toward Dragon Boy for the last chance to dine there. Following by a trip to The Rocks, we heard that they were having a weekend market from the brochure. We traveled from the South Sydney to the North Point just to go and have a look, don’t even mention about the distance.

The market started from a small alley, full of vendors selling fresh food and accessories. It kept going and spread out to many streets, we tried our best to cover them all.

The prices weren’t exactly cheap, 100 AUD for a hardwood boomerang for example. But there was this public restaurant selling roasted pork and jars of beer, making me especially envious. We planned on taking the BUS 555 home for Roxie was feeling a little bit uncomfortable about her stomach. We waited at the bus stop for about half an hour then a 555 passed just in front of our eyes! I did hold my hand in the air as a signal of taking the bus, the bus driver totally ignored that! I checked again just to make sure that we were at the right bus stop. Then the second one came and I waved my hand, the bus driver waved back… I wasn’t trying to say hi! It drove past, too.

That’s when we decided to give up and make a walk home. Roxie was so weak and she said that her tummy was in much pain. I picked her up and put her on my back, giving her a piggy ride despite other’s questioning look.

It was like ages before finally seeing the hostel sign. I was exhausted and so was poor Roxie.

She took some pills and had a cup of hot chocolate, it’s best that she take a small nap and rest for a while.

I cooked the instant noodles and dried them in a bowl like Mom used to do it, but tasted a little bit odd, I figured it was the “problem” of the noodles they sell there and not me HAHA.
