I double checked our suitcase many times
just to make sure that we weren’t leaving anything behind. It was at about nine
and Roxie slept soundly, I couldn’t believe that we’ve reached our last stop in
Australia and would soon be going back home. But I had been really satisfied
with our trip so far : )
I’m always extremely cautious on the check
out date and got up at least one hour before leaving. A late check out will
result in being fined, missing the bus and our room reservation in Gold Coast.
It was pretty smooth on the way to the
Transit Centre, the ground was at least flat without that many holes like
Melbourne. We managed to get all of our luggage to Coach Terminal on the third
floor but that’s when Roxie’s suitcase hit her first obstacle. Weighing three
kilos above the limit… she took her skateboard out and some of the cosmetics,
finally she made it and we sat on the benches waiting for our bus.
Greyhound to Surfers Paradise from Brisbane
at 11:30! Roxie and I exchanged our electronic device and read E-books on the
whole way, by the time our heads looked up, we were starting to see beaches!
(one and a half hour ride)
We arrived at the transit centre at Surfers
Paradise, since Chateau was on Elkhorn Street just a few blocks away, we
dragged everything we owned there. The weather was windy but the sunshine
strong, roasting our backs. But I’m beginning to like it here in Gold Coast.
Chateau was just by the beach and you could
see the ocean not very far away. And I’m glad that we had booked one with an ocean-view,
it’s absolutely beautiful. (I read it on the tour guide which said: three most
important things coming to Gold Coast are to go to one of the theme parks,
gamble at the Casino and stay in in an ocean-view room…) suddenly I felt really
lucky that we planned on travelling to Perth for our first stop and Gold Coast
our finale, it wouldn’t be as relaxing if it was the other way around HAHA..
Our room contained a small living room in
the middle, a big double bed. It’s also fully equipped with water heater,
microwave and other utilities. This Ocean-view room cost about 99 AUD per night
but we got it cheap for 438 AUD five nights. And it’s about 40 AUD per person,
making it only about 10 AUD more expensive than a backpacker hostel per night.
Totally worth it!
Roxie and I went to explore Surfers Paradise
after taking a little rest for we couldn’t hold our excitement. The very first
thing was to locate the Post Office and send our postcards to our parents, hope
that they will arrive sooner than us! We spent the following afternoon touring
the small “town” and checking out the shops here. We also bought the tickets to
Dreamworld in advance for it would be saving us 12 AUD per person.
What’s for dinner? A big Hawaiian Pizza and
one big dish of beef lasagna (microwaved) we also borrowed some DVDs from the
counter down at Chateau and had a great night. Heated Pool and the Steam Room
took all of our stress and tiredness away after the meal and we even took a
walk on the icy sand listening to the splashing sound of the waves.
The guy at BWS just won’t sell us the vodka
we were trying to buy without seeing our ID, he said that we seemed just too
young to drink… so we had to go back and picked up our passports, just to get
our hands on the bottles.
The priorities on our lists tomorrow was to
find Q1 DECK and buy the go card!
