Arriving in Los Angeles at 5 in the morning, so much ahead of schedule, we’re scheduled to pick up our car at 10 am so we have no choice but to wait at the station after having a McMuffin in McDonald’s.
We called a Uber when it’s about time because the car rental place was kind of far from where we were and we didn’t really want to go through all the trouble of dragging around the big luggage and doing all the transfer through public transportation.
The driver was a lot of fun, he was a middle aged man and from the Philippines. He talked so much in the car about history, politics, asked us questions and gave us some background of his knowledge and family.
The Uber ride was quite long and he kept saying our English is very good, Taiwan is very good, both Ariel and I liked him very much.
At the car rental place, since we’ve already booked online for a car, everything was going on smoothly until one of the clerks told the front desk that they just don’t happen to have our car model today and they’re very sorry.
So the front desk secretly upgraded our car, which was around the Camry model in the first place to a new Chrysler 300, with no additional fee!
The car was big, and with so many cool gadgets like electronic chair, buttons instead of shifting gear and automatic lights. It was a little too big for me at the first place but by the end of the day I had got my hand on it and was smoothly cruising it through the Grand Canyon town.
