7/05 San Francisco

Arriving in San Francisco at around 12 noon, we dragged the luggage away from Greyhound and started searching for some food to fill our hungry tummies. Since Ariel was in charge of tour sights and restaurants, (I’m in charge of all transportation connections including where to get tickets and how to get from spots to spots), we followed her “restaurant map” and secured ourselves outside the famous San Francisco Burger place: Super Duper.

There were already many people waiting in line and we just couldn’t wait to get our juicy pound-beef burger. The waitress was really nice and she asked me whether it’s my first time here, I said yes and then she served us with two free cups to pour any of the drinks we like from the shop. Normally the cups cost like 2 dollars each.

After the meal we got our Muni Passports, Muni is the nickname for the San Francisco buses, a variety of transportations such as trams, buses and old historical rides. With the 3-day Muni pass we bought, which is 31 dollars each and per ride is 2.25 each, we had gotten ourselves a deal because we would be using our pass a lot.

We traveled to Daly Town, which was quite far from the city center and started going up the hills. The hills were getting extremely steep and I had the big fat luggage behind me.

The weather was so much colder than it was in Los Angeles and of course Taiwan, and I’ve had only shorts and a long-sleeved shirt with me which made the climb more harsh than it already was. Finally we made it to the Airbnb and the host Stephen greeted us with warm welcome. We settled ourselves in the living room on one bed and a couch, which will be our bedroom for the next three nights and hit the shower.

Stephen kept chatting with us about history, Taiwan and China, election and wages for around two hours until finally he decided to let us go have our own tour, which was kind of a relief.

We took the Muni buses again to city center, explored the city for a bit and went for the famous Golden State Bridge, it was a bit misty but still looked majestic.

Afterwards was some exploration back in the cities, to the suburban areas and decided to have American Fried Chicken Popeyes for dinner, we had 5 pieces each and it was way too much. There was a supermarket called Lucky not far away and there we were able to purchase some beverages and snacks, then we hit home and arrived at around 11, because of all the long bus rides, walking around and up the hill to Stephen’s house, really time consuming, exhausting but still pretty much fun.

It would have been better if the weather was nicer and not so cold.
