TED/Matt Cutts: Try something new for 30 days

I remember this lecture vividly, for my dad half forced me to watch it when I was watching TV, a few months back. And I think that the guy's words made much sense, after giving him a chance and hearing him out. We dislike many things, and even a perfectionist have things that make him or her yuck. However, do we really dislike it by its essence, or only from the appearance?

For example, we're prone to not like many vegetables and foreign cuisine. However, to take a deeper investigation, is it really the taste, or ingredients of the food that made us not like it? Or is it just the weird looks or names? This isn't just come with food, human hobbies, interests and work can also be counted in. Sometimes, we're reluctant to do certain things, and it's just because we're lazy, or we don't really know the work well. And all these things can also be counted as stereotype.

Stereotypes are not good, therefore we should try our best to break them, try the new things and learn to accept it. At least, do as the lecturer in the video said, give it a try for maybe a month, and see whether you really hate it. Eventually, you can find a new hobby, or life purpose this way. Since living in this method doesn't really harm anyone, why not give it a try? It may enrich our lives indirectly and I think we will never regret it.
