Statement of Purpose

Introduction

My major is Foreign Languages and Literatures, for I love to travel around the world and meet new people, visit their cultures and get to know the customs. Hence, it’s important to master the skill of languages, not just English, to improve the quality and length of conversations.

Academic Experience

The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures provided us with many choices in languages, and that’s why I am eager to participate in most of the classes, grasping the techniques of the languages. I had taken Japanese class in my junior year, though it was extremely difficult for me. And I still keep showing up as a visitor after the Level 1 Course had ended; I joined French class in my third year of college and found it to my liking, for many of the big malls like Carrefour, Decathlon stand prominent in Taiwan; and now as a senior, I’m having German classes. I considered this language the hardest among all the others, but I think I will stuck up to it due to the joy it brought through learning.

Work Experience

I spent most of my first year in college on activities around the campus, getting to know people from different departments; Then I started taking part time jobs as an English assistant in Chia Yin cram school, which is a lot of fun to be looked up to by so many youngsters at the front of the class; at the same time, I also worked as a tutor for high school students, helping them with their English speaking and reading; one of the coolest job was to work as an oral training partner for a post graduate studying in the Institute of Optics and Electronics. We would communicate in English for two hours nonstop, it’s an interesting and beneficial job; at last, I became a waiter at a foreign pizza shop called Pisa Pizza, where I get to meet and chat with foreigners from a variety of countries.

Motivation

I have always been intrigued by International affairs in so many ways, since I was a kid; I have kept track of the big piece or trivial news on TV, the newspaper or the Internet. And it’s my best wish to take it as my future study, for I perceive that I can acquire opportunities to utilize and make use of my language ability in the area. Thus, I also need further studying on business-relative subjects in order to get into more famous companies.

Due to the differences in teaching styles and environment, I choose NCHU, my mother school and the first ever to erect this course. Here, I have received a wealth of resources and professional knowledge. Therefore, I believed I can still be much benefited in my further years to come, here in NCHU. Furthermore, our university focuses on making students think in our own ways, and that’s the key to creative and diplomatic thinking.

Future Career Plan

First, I plan to enter a company in Asia to gain more experiences and simultaneously broaden my horizon; I would like to work in global enterprises in western foreign country after then. And I’m certain that this program is a great fir for my professional goals and academic purposes.
