TED/Marco Tempest: Maybe the best robot demo ever

Robot technology is getting more and more advanced in our lives, and people are coming up with different kind of ideas concerning the future robots, and how they should be mainly design should be depended on what we hope them to look like, or to function in the later days. For example, if we really need these robots as servants, they should be able to read human signs, know the personalities of their owners, and sometimes it's essential for them to listen and understand our language. I know how far these all sound right now, but who can really be sure that these are impossible?

Just take a look at the robot presented on the stage of TED today, it may seem simple, however, it functions closely with people. It has motion sensors, contact readers and many more things. As for why robots aren't yet manufactured in huge numbers is that we still have some concerns of our own. For example, there were dozens of movies about robots fighting humans, and some served as servants in the first place, but gradually stand up to their owners. These movies may have been made for amusement purpose, or to satisfy the robotic dreams in some people's minds, but who can say that this kind of fear doesn't exist?

Of course I would love to have a robot servant of my own, but what becomes of our lives? If we have robots to work for us, is it still necessary for us to go to work and earn money by our own hands? People will become lazy with no goal or purpose to live for, some even wage wars toward one another using robots, to gain ground, to control the others, or simply because they've become bored with their life. So I think robots may be good helpers for human beings, to do dangerous work, or survey, as long as they don't have their own feelings. For once we grow attach to them, problems will start to pop out.
