Day 03 Easy job

1/31 Chiayi to Kaosiung

Yesterday was the day before New Year, after moving out of the hotel and riding to my uncle's house, I left my bike untouched for the following day. It felt great to take a break from all the riding. Unluckily my muscles were still so sore this morning.

Still the same routine of getting up at seven and leaving Chiayi at eight. Dad said it will be a smooth ride to Kaosiung today, though the distance was over 100kms,

which doesn't bother me at all. I kicked off right away.

I entered Tainan county within an hour and a half, the views were mostly the same: corn fields, wasteland and pineapple orchards. There's this rider that I remembered who was on a road bike, he took over me once and was fast on his feet. There was a big bag on his back which seemed to be sliding off every second, it must be a pain to keep adjusting the bag through the whole trip. I used this as an advantage and took over him, it felt great to get pass a road biker haha.

Mom and Dad will be uniting with me in Kaosiung at night, since we will be celebrating with my mom's family the next day. Yeah another relaxing day for me, which is just one of the best things about traveling around Taiwan during the New Year time.

I stopped at one of the 7-11s for lunch and even got myself a Popsicle. The weather was hot and it felt amazing to have the ice slipping into the mouth. A middle aged biker whizzed past me while I was enjoying my bendong, he was wearing black with no luggage, good, I remembered him.

I was back on road as soon as I gulped down my meal, I was worried about going at it so intensely after consuming food, there's the rumor about the appendix problem. However, I still paddled fast in search of the black clothing guy, and finally past him nearing Kaosiung.

Kaosiung really is a big city, the signs started flashing about: entering the inner city, about 2 hours ago, and I was still seeing the sign after about 20 kms. Finally I reached my destination, the villa of my fourth uncle. I was supposed to wait for my parents so I took a rest at the park next to the street. They timed the moment right and just arrived a while later.

As for the following day, we visited my grandparents and other relatives, playing some monopoly and had lots of laughs, finally we retired back to the lodge. The road was long but smooth today, with 106 km covered within 6 hours and 52 minutes.
