Have you ever dived into the underwater, maybe a couple metres deep, and really observed the environment? I haven't, in fact, I don't even know how to snorkel. This kind of diving isn't carried out in one of the swimming pools, indeed it's in a big lake, or ocean.
Some people may be afraid of the situation, which gives them no chance to ever have a taste of what's like deep into the water. However, many people are bringing back images of the underwater world themselves, through beautiful images and videos.
David is one of them, and one of his hobbies is to go diving every weekend or so. He will put on his gear and everything including the oxygen tank, water-proof recording device. The boat will haul him to the middle of nowhere, where there's only water around him. That's when he gives a thumb up and jump into the sea.
It may seem really scary to be floating in the mid of nowhere. However, when you get use to it, you're going to enjoy the kind of serenity and calm, said David. It seems to be a perfect idea to come to the stage of Ted and share one's special experience, which encourages people, too.
No matter what the hobby, or sport is, the most important thing in a person's life is to try something new daily. Otherwise it would be just work and money and sleep, life is going to pass in a blink, and when you look back at the past: emptiness. That's what David here today is trying to teach us, it isn't really about underwater, or what he saw, an octopus or shark, but to live the life to the fullest.
