Day 02 Pass one another

1/29 Taichung to Chiayi

According to the original plan, I was supposed to be riding to Yunlin and stay for the night. However, I decided to travel directly to Chiayi City instead. In this case, I don't have to get all sweaty getting to my uncle's house the following morning.

The trip was pretty smooth in the beginning, except for my sore legs and thighs. I tried to ignore the soreness and kept paddling. The paths today were much smoother than yesterday's, but seemed to be much longer though. The GPS never stopped his attempt on trying to direct me on to the high way and that got me lost for a few times, I had to find new routes to get around the high way and get back in track.

Back in Yunlin, while I was climbing a bridge, a cyclist rode past me and gave me a glance, he was fast, for he wasn't carrying any luggage and it was a road bike that he was riding. I tried to catch up with him in the city and the urge to compete sped me up for a while. Too bad that the GPS directed me into another way.

While I was leaving for Changhua, another female rider on a road bike past me, too. She was so fast that the image of her and the bike became a dot within a few minutes. With the GPS down very often, I find myself so often in remote areas with only farmlands and orchards. I remembered vividly that two kids shouted at me to cheer up while I past by their side, it really was an encouragement.

It took me about four hours to cross the Changhua County and entered Yunlin, the trip was much further and longer than I had expected. While I was getting near to Chiayi, the guy who rode past me in Yunlin caught up with me from behind and waved at me!

You know what that meant? I was faster than he was, well until he past me the second time. Anyway, it's a price to pay not to stop for lunch but only small breaks of Snickers and mineral water.

A few moments later the girl who past me in Yunlin past me again... What a small world... So I was faster than she was, too, before she past me the second time. After this bit of coincidence, I past the male rider and entered Chiayi in the second place, with the girl in the lead.

I located myself at a hotel nearby to the train station with only a price of 600 NT per night, with a double-bed.
My bottom felt like broken and it kept aching through the whole journey, my legs were just feeling sore the whole time. I guess I should go get something to eat before I collapse : )
