My eyes snapped open in extreme darkness, for a second I thought that I had gone blind. Cold air stung my lungs every breath in and out. The atmosphere was tense, but calm as if the night before a storm. I could tell that something wasn’t right. Wrong place. Wrong time.
Windows around me suddenly shattered from unknown brute forces. Pieces of sharp glasses flew this and there like deadly shurikens. I curled into a ball to make myself a smaller target, in fear of being turned into a hedgehog. Someone jumped in and landed with perfect agility, following with several more thuds. The next moment I found myself surrounded by a dozen of heavy breathings, and I swore that the circle was growing smaller as feet shuffled toward my way. But before any of the intruders could attack, I made my move.
Everybody knows that it was never wise to launch oneself at a potential enemy, especially one who might be carrying a weapon. But in a situation this steep it left me with no choice. Strange though, instead of making contact with a human body, the power of the jump was so strong that I flew right over the deadly circle and shot straight out of the window! As soon as I became airborne gravity took me in her arms and I began my trip of a vertical drop. Cold stream of air threatened to tear me apart and the pressure seemed to have found bursting my lungs the new goal of its life. I spread my arms out in panic, in hope that feathers will just cover me whole and save me from this chaos.
The thought was ridiculous! But then how do you explain the fact that I’m floating right now! The free fall had stopped abruptly, as if an unknown strength was supporting my weight. As I hovered in air, I gently spin around and for the first time I had the whole view. It was an old abandoned city and the whole thing is as lifeless as can be. The sun was just going down, signaling the end of civilization… A bullet wheezed by me and caught me off guard. I turned myself toward the skyscraper that I had just fallen out of and caught sight of a bunch of heads, which is indeed a mob, with one of them aiming a big gun at me.
“Hand over the flying ability and you walk, otherwise you dine in hell tonight!” the words came strong and aggressive from a clown, who seemed to be the leader of the mob. Waving his big gun, the clown reloaded and started to cackle. Out of the corner of my eyes I saw his finger tightened around the trigger and all that’s left was the big bang from the killing machine. Before the smell of gunpowder had faded, I found myself in bed with a body of sweat; eyes wide and fully awoke. That was a hell of a nightmare.
