The reason that incidents in The Cove existed and was Richard O’Barry, and it was also this guy who strives to end it. On the contrary, Richard led the title of the first to capture and train the dolphins for the TV show Flipper, while his view of the animal lives has gradually changed through years spent accompanying the intelligent marine animals. Our essay started by granting our admiration toward the magnificence of the dolphins: their graceful moves and sensitive minds, depicting these creatures’ features and knowledge that we don’t even know of. Then we pull our focus back on the story of The Cove, which plays just an essential or indispensable to our papers, for the film revealed the truth of the slaughtering in Taiji that had been hidden behind the curtains for ages. We spent a few lines talking about the maker of The Cove: Louis Psihoyos, followed by descriptions on Richard O’Barry, who of course can’t be missed. In the papers, Louis’ background and his importance to the saving of dolphins are discussed in large margins, for Louis was the one who risked himself so many times into Taiji for information on the massacres. It would be unfair that people don’t appreciate what he had done in the past years to make our planet a better place. We also go into further researches on the annual dolphin hunts: what’s the real profit behind all the slaughtering? Why is the Japanese government refusing to cease the cruelty? We linked the hunts to the fate of dolphins that are chosen and abandoned, from there the issues of consuming dolphin meat was brought out on the table. The slaughtering of dolphins was viewed as a sin due to the acknowledgement that dolphins are clever and wise creatures. But the IWC and several animal conserving commissions are ignoring the fact, so how can we make the Earth a better place for the dolphins and what methods can we take to protect them from cruel benefits? It’s time for every human being to realize the truth and come out from the dark.
