2011/11/6 My Dream Journey

I have had many dreams since I was young. And I believe that they can take me anywhere I want as long as I try hard and never give up. Endurance and patience are the two indispensable elements along the road to success. While many kids my age indulged themselves in dreams like becoming a pilot or someone mighty and powerful, to travel around the world… On the other hand I dreamt of a role near the coastlines and it’s such a simple yet unordinary dream.

Secret revealed. I dreamt of becoming an oyster farmer in the future! It all started when I was in the 3rd grade, my parents and I took a trip to Southern Taiwan during the summer vacation. The weather was not a bit similar to that of Taipei and everywhere was like a human inferno. The tedious breeze brought waves after waves of drowsiness. I was about to doze off and yield to the blistering sunshine only just then out of the corners of my eyes I caught figures moving along the coastline. I asked my father to halt the car, in the next second I threw open the door and broke off into a run. It was a wild chase and my parents finally caught up with me, through panting breaths they spit out the words: oyster farmers…

Being an oyster farmer fascinates me. Not to mention the oysters’ good taste, for I have been a big fan of oysters since I learned to chew. And to see where this delicacy actually came from, there was no way I could conceal my excitement. I stayed and watched attentively at the oyster farmers in action, waist-deep in the water. I enjoyed the gracious and gentle moves of oysters picking, and the way they collected the strings amazed me. I tried my best melting the picture into my brain. From that day on the occupation of an oyster farmer had officially become my dream. But I think it’s necessary that I enrich my knowledge and read more books about oysters in my leisure time. Only in this way can I be well prepared for my dream journey ahead.
